Program Policies

Policy for Concurrent (High School) Students

  • A high school student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher or as per school district policy to register for USU Concurrent Enrollment Courses. A written authorization is required and may be accomplished by having the high school counselor/principal sign this Registration Contract and Policy at the bottom of this page.
  • Only Junior and Senior high school students will be permitted to enroll in University courses except with a written authorization from the high school counselor/principal. The written authorization may be accomplished by having the high school counselor/principal sign the Registration Contract and Policy at the bottom of this page.
  • All high school students must register for courses taken with USU EACH semester/trimester by the 7th day after the first day classes begin. Failure to fully complete and submit the USU registration form by the 7th day after the course begins may disqualify the student from obtaining university course credit. Registration is accomplished by completely filling out and submitting a USU  registration card for each semester/trimester attended. Each USU registration card submitted must have the signature of the high school counselor/principal to be considered a valid registration card.
  • High school students may not drop classes after the (fifth) 5th day of class without written permission from their high school counselor/principal. High school students must completely fill out and submit a USU Uintah Basin drop card to the USU Uintah Basin Registration Office to complete the drop process.
  • High school students may take up to 30 semester credit hours per academic year. Registering for more than 30 credits, in an academic year, will mean the student is required to pay full tuition and fees for credits in excess of 30. The academic year consists of Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • High school students desiring to repeat a course due to a poor grade, or a course that can be repeated for credit, will be required to pay full tuition and fees for the repeated course.
  • Home taught or home-schooled students are not eligible to enroll in concurrent courses except with written approval by the School District Superintendent.
  • High school senior students must complete all concurrent enrollment courses prior to their graduation or participation in their high school graduation exercises. Courses taken after graduation exercises are not considered Concurrent Courses. The student will be charged full tuition and fees for all courses not considered Concurrent Credit Courses.
  • High school students that are allowed to register for university credit are restricted to 1000 and 2000 level courses, except ENGL 1010, and 2010 which only high school seniors may register for. Students are also required to have 30 semester hours completed before they will be allowed to register for ENGL 2010.
